God Leads Where You Didn't Plan to Go
Acts 8:26-39
When it comes to recognizing the power of God, we tend to see only the obvious circumstances of the natural order and miss the deeper fact of God's presence around us.
Have you noticed when God has a special mission, He does not appoint someone who is idle, but one who is actively involved.
Helen Temple remarks, "The mark of God is He leads you where you didn't plan to go."
How we can effectively share our faith: We must (1) hear God's voice; (2) obey His instructions; and (3) recognize the needs of others.
I. Philip was in tune to listen to God's voice.
A. God's direction often includes the instructions to "go" (vv. 26, 29).
B. Philip cultivated the habit of listening for the Spirit's direction.
II. Philip had already decided to be an obedient, Spirit controlled Christian (6:3).
A. Spiritual success requires consecration without reservation.
B. Philip responded to God's assignment.
III. Philip was sensitive in recognizing the needs of others.
After two thousand years the fields are yet white unto harvest, but the laborers are so few. Any fool can count the number of seeds in an apple; only God can count how many apples are in a seed!
