Before You Give Up
Remember the Mustard Seed
Matthew 13:31-32
Some of the disciples and followers of Jesus were tempted to give up. John the Baptist’s question was lurking in the hearts of most of them: "Are you the One, or shall we look for another?" Jesus seeks to encourage us by saying: "Before you give up remember the Mustard Seed."
"I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you" (Matt. 17:20).
Jesus described the Kingdom of Heaven to a mustard seed. The point is that
The Kingdom of Heaven starts from small beginnings and grows large and useful.
An idea which may well change civilization begins in the mind of one person.
Think of the humble beginnings of Christianity as a whole:
A witness may begin with one person.
A reformation may begin with one person.
With Jesus an invincible force enters our lives.
The progress of humanity simply cannot be portrayed honestly without giving a foremost place to Jesus the Nazarene.
"Faith" is used less as a noun and more as an expression of the verbal "faithfulness."
It is the quality of faithfulness not the quantity of faith that may hinder their ministry.
Faith is not about size; Faith is about spice. Small size...big kick.
Mustard is not to be eaten alone. Mustard is at its best when it is helping something else achieve its true and greatest potential.
