PEOPLE OF PROMISE AND PURPOSE
2 Cor 10:2-6

         Many churches, denominations, and individuals over time, have drifted away from their original purpose. God is committed to making us people of promise and purpose in every area of our lives!
He seeks to increase His work in each of us so that He might release His life through each of us. God's message to us is: You mustn't think too small, or you will get in My way; for I have set Myself to do a great work

I. RENEWING OUR SOULS: KEEPING OUR FOCUS ON CHRIST (v. 2).

A. Living by "the standards of the world" is to live in rebellion against Christ.
B. A Heart for God makes us a people of Promise!
C. A Heart for God does not preclude the experience of spiritual warfare.

II. RE-TEACHING OUR IDEALS: FOCUS ON TEARING DOWN STRONGHOLDS:

A. A stronghold is a place or person which Satan fortifies in order too exalt himself against the knowledge and plans of God (Cindy Jacobs).

(2 Cor 10:4-6) "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. {5}We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. {6}And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete."

B. Demolish the stronghold of arguments.

(Rom 15:5-7) "May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, {6}so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. {7}Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God."

C. Demolish the stronghold of pretension that sets itself against the knowledge of God.

1. (James 4:6) Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble...
2. (James 4:10) "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up."

D. Take captive the stronghold of the mind.
E. Demolish the stronghold of iniquity and build a stronghold of obedience.

III. REFILLING WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT EQUIPS US TO BE GOD'S KINGDOM PEOPLE.

A. We are equipped by the baptism of the Holy Spirit to experience Jesus' life, love and power in each situation.
B. Wherever people embrace the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a second work of grace, the fruit of the Kingdom life flourishes.
C. Focus of the Spirit-filled Life: Worshiping and glorifying Jesus.
