2009 State of the Church Message
Isaiah 40:28-31
If you're religious, you're probably more likely to keep your New Year's resolutions, according to a new study by the University of Miami. Religious beliefs and behaviors are capable of encouraging people to exercise self-control and to more effectively regulate their emotions and behaviors so that they can pursue valued goals.
The Biblical Vision that started Our Journey of Faith.
The Vision: Reaching the Next Generation (Moses going back to get the children of Israel).
Moses asks: (Exo 3:11) "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?"
The Lord answers: (Exo 3:12) "I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain."
The whole purpose of God in this monumental relocation program (Egypt to Canaan) was for the purpose of bringing a new generation to worship God in their own land.
God seeks to raise a people who not only come out of the world to worship God themselves, but who will also lead others by example to do the same.
"You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself. {5}Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, {6}you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites" (Exo 19:4-6).
Constructing a worship center for the next generation became a central focus for the Israelites in exodus.
"Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them.... There, above the cover between the two cherubim that are over the ark of the Testimony, I will meet with you and give you all my commands for the Israelites." (Exo 25:8, 25).
God’s purpose for His covenant people is that all of us become worship leaders helping the peoples of the world come to worship our God!
The purpose of our relocation project is designed to facilitate the vision of reaching a new generation.
Birthing a Mission: By clarifying what it is that Christ has called us to be and to do, we gain the SAME PAGE ADVANTAGE.
Jesus told His disciples the most important thing that they were to be doing: Follow Me ... Make Disciples.
BE A DISCIPLE (a follower of Jesus) ... and BE A DISCIPLE-MAKER.
A follower of Christ is one who decides to walk WITH Jesus as one’s Savior and Lord.
A follower of Christ is one who intentionally acts like Jesus.
A follower of Christ is one who learns to use his/her spiritual gifts to serve others.
A follower of Christ is one who seeks to help others to become followers of Jesus.
The business (mission) of the Church, as a group of followers of Jesus, is to "make disciples of others."
The Blueprint for Discipleship: Churches with a simple, biblical process for reaching and maturing people (making disciples) are effectively expanding the kingdom.
Blueprint for Discipleship Paradigm:

What do we expect of mature disciples?
Participation in Worship
Belonging in a Small Group
Involvement to a Ministry Team.
Staying Focused on The Blueprint for Discipleship is the commitment to abandon everything that falls outside of the ministry process.
Discipleship is more effective when we connect people with groups.
To change and grow, people must sometimes change. Discipleship means being so committed to Christ that when he bids us to follow, we will change, risk, grow, and leave our old "shells" behind.
