CLIMATE OF A GREAT CHURCH
Acts 2:42-47
The Spirit of the early Church induced people to undergo fantastic change. The Spirit of God produced spiritual revolutions in those who allowed Jesus to be their Lord and Master! The Holy Spirit produced a climate for change, growth and health in the Church.
The Church had a climate of whole-hearted commitment (vv. 42-43).
Christians devoted themselves to the apostle’s teachings.
People came to church with a simple motive: "What more can I learn about Christ and Christian living?"
The Christians devoted themselves to the fellowship of believers.
KOINONIA fellowship is based on our fellowship in the Holy Spirit.
The Christians devoted themselves to the breaking of bread.
The Christians devoted themselves to prayer.
The Church had a climate of sharing (vv. 44-5).
The Christians shared their time and their lives together.
The Christians shared what they had to help each other.
Christians shared with those who had need.
The Church had a climate of encouragement (vv. 46-47).
The disciples continued to meet together publicly at the place of worship (cf. Heb. 10:25).
The disciples continued to fellowship together privately in their own homes.
In a great and mature Church non-Christians find Christ as Savior and Lord.
Goodness is not the exceptional achievement of exceptional people. Goodness is the spontaneous overflow of God's Spirit within. What is right is possible. Moral victory is available.
