God At Work
One Plus One = Miracles
Acts 3:1-10
Dr. Burnie R. Burnside
What happens when you and I become partners with God? One plus one may equal two in the world of mathematics. But in the spiritual world when you and I partner with God, one plus one equals miracles.
In Acts 1 the Holy Spirit is promised. In Acts 2 the Holy Spirit is given. In Acts 3 the Holy Spirit is at work in Spirit-filled individuals.
God Works Through People Who Are Doing the Right Thing (v. 1).
God works miracles with us in the ordinary - every day - experiences of life.
God does the extraordinary through ordinary people who are in the right place - doing the right thing - day in and day out.
God works through people who are willing to be interrupted (vv. 2-3).
God Works Through People Who Are Sensitive to Other’s Needs (v. 4).
Miracles happen through compassionate people who are sensitive to the troubled and lost of our world.
Christianity is for contributors - NOT consumers!!
We are called to lift the downcast.
God Works Through People Who Are Willing to Admit Personal Bankruptcy But Who Are Amazingly Adequate in the Spirit of God (vv. 6-7).
There are two kinds of people: those who lift and those who lean.
Givers always find a way to contribute and takers always find ways to steal.
When we give what we have, no gift is too small or insignificant.
God gives what is needed not what is asked.
God Works Through People Who Are Willing to Allow God to Receive the Glory (vv. 9-10).
Whatever has crippled one’s spirit, broken one’s life, or bound one with regret and bitterness, can be released in the power of Jesus’ name.
There is power in the name of Jesus!
One plus one equals a whole lot more than two when we join with God.
